Independent Living Scheme

This scheme enables disabled to live in their own homes whilst employing personal assistants / carers to support them in leading an independent life.This is made possible by Direct Payments  from Social Services following new legislation in April 1997. 

This is as a result of campaigning by disabled people who want more control and choice in their lives. If you would like more information please ask for the Independent living worker.
